Program: A few years ago Blaine Illingworth gave a presentation to our Chapter regarding proper, and improper stucco installations techniques, materials and details.
Blaine will once again traverse this ever-increasing litigation minefield with new insight, perspective and knowledge about how these problems happened, their prevention in the design phase, and several proven remedies for existing problems as well as new construction designs. Blaine will delve into how installation techniques differ between the first half of the 20th century and today as well as the structural result of the changes in substrate materials and application speeds with regard to cement curing times; details of proper stucco installation; and inspection techniques to determine the adequacy of the installations. A PowerPoint presentation will show dramatic problems associated with improper installations Finally, repair and retrofit options will be discussed with potential cost-to-cure scenarios presented for each type of repair.
